3 positions based in Brisbane

Department of Main Roads are investing $16.2 billion over the next five years on road and transport infrastructure that will connect our future, while simultaneously managing the State’s largest asset – some 35,500 km of road network valued at over $37 billion.

Due to this major spend on infrastructure, the Network Operations and Modelling (NOM) branch is seeking to appoint three Senior Engineers (Traffic Management) to be based at our Spring Hill office in Brisbane. The NOM branch is the central hub for implementation of road operation services such as ITS within Main Roads, and concentrates primarily around providing technical and practical solutions to congestion and traffic issues.

As Senior Engineer (Traffic Management), you will be responsible for:

Researching and developing the application of leading edge Traffic Engineering technology Researching and developing traffic engineering, congestion management and road safety policies, systems and standards for network operations and traffic performance

Providing expert traffic engineering and road safety advice and training to Main Roads, other government agencies and external organisations

Actively contributing to the development of traffic engineering practice at internal, state and interstate forums

Advising on Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) with regard to Traffic Operations, Transport Modelling and addressing Congestion

A degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications which are acceptable for corporate membership of Engineers Australia is mandatory.

The remuneration package for this role ranges from $99,900 – $107,500. Main Roads also provides excellent benefits including flexible work hours and salary packaging options.
