Brisbane Based Role
The Surveillance Officer is part of the on-site presence of the Alliance Verifier team.
Responsibilities / Objectives
- Maintain daily diaries of surveillance activities on surveillance and inspection sheets
- Carry out regular surveillance of the Project Works in accordance with the project verification and monitoring plan, risk management plan and similar
- Monitor construction activities to check compliance with the approved design and specifications
- Attend and release witness points and hold points as required
- Assist in the review of condition surveys
- Review selection and testing procedures to ensure that all specified random sampling procedures, the required frequency of testing and test methods are in accordance with the requirements of the Project Specific Technical Requirements
- Assist the verifier team in the review of the Alliance’s construction method statements, project control plans, inspection and test plans and other similar quality control mechanisms
- Assist the verifier team in reviewing and surveillance of satisfactory disposition of non-conformance and corrective actions
- Attend weekly project site meetings, any monthly or any other meetings required by the Main Roads Representative or the Alliance to contribute to review of quality issues, quality of work and any remedial measures required
- Assist the verifier team in verification that completion of work has occurred in accordance with the approved design and specifications
- Other duties as may be directed.
Skills / Knowledge / Experience / Attributes
Qualifications
- Trade qualification (or similar) in a civil construction discipline
Experience
- Approximately 15 years experience in various aspects of civil construction
- Experience in concrete structures highly desirable
Knowledge
- Construction of concrete structures associated with major road infrastructure - includes bridges, retaining walls, noise attenuation structures, and drainage. (desirable).
- Working knowledge of Queensland Main Roads (or other like authority) technical requirements (desirable)
- Sound understanding of construction processes, quality and the methodology of surveillance
- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, computer based management tools, email and associated applications.
Skills
- High level of communication skills in on-site environment
- Effective communication within team environment
- Maintain independence of contractor
- Demonstrated influence on technical matters within the team
